Cotton.?At the close of last week we stated there was a fair demand for the article, and the outside figures given in our scale of quotations were freely paid. In the earlj part of the week just brought to a close, and up to Wednesday evening, the market was active and buoyant, with a decided tendency in favor of sellers. On Thursday the advices from Liverpool by the Persia to the 25th ultimo came to hand, reportiog an active demand for the article, at an advance of Jd. on former quotations, with sales for the week of 75,000 bales, speculators takiug-12,000, and exporters 4,500 bales, and leaving a stock of American on hand of 423,000 bales. These accounts had a very favorable effect on our market, and prices immediately advanced cent, and some choice lots were taken at 141 centa. The sales of the week foot up about 800 bales, and .we now quote: Inferior 11 ordinary 12@12^; middling 13@13J; good middling 13.J013:} ; fair 13?(? 14J; and choice 14@14A cents. Country Cured Bacon.?We can only say there is none of this article on sale, and therefore we cannn% quote nominal 16 cents lb. Corn.?There has been no quotable change in corn, and we therefore continue to quote $1,150 $1.18jj cents bushel. Pea*.?There has been no arrivals of cow peas since our last, nor can they be had at any price. We quote $1. 50 >j4 bushel.
