Prof. Chas. De Guath's Electbic Oil.?Take it to the cottage of the lowly, and relieve the pains; of accident or disease: take it to the mansions of the rich to sooth the suffering that neither station j nor wealth can mitigate: take it everywhere j through the wide world, and say if my "KLEC | TRIC OIL" is not on its benign mission, healing, j soothing, and relieving, as has not been done since j the day the Good Samaritan annointed the weary t pilgrim. The deaf shall hear, the fr. mbiing limb be strong, And groans anguish mellow into song. Prof. C. DE GRATH, Phila. ?a?*This Oil maybe relied ou for deafness. To be h?d of the agents here. See advertisement in another column. Commercial department. Yorkville Market. Wednesdat, August 5. Cotton.?There is no chanee to notice in the price of this article sincejour last report. Some few bales changed hands at 11 to 131 extremes.? We may consider this a fair indication of the market. Wheat.?This article still continues to come in, and is freely taken at full prices, say $1.10 to $1.15. We may say there is a downward tendency, and these prices could hardly be obtained now. $1.00 to $1.10 might be set down as extremes. Columbia Market. August 8. Cotton.?The cotton market has been so dull for some weeks past, and still continues to be so, that anything we could say at present would be ; merely a repetition of what we hare been saying for some time, viz: all that is offered is freely taken at very full prices, thereby clearly showing that it is only the lack of supply, and not of demand, that keeps the market in its present inac- ( tive state. We therefore continue our former quotations with this remark, that if the article was offered it would freely command our outside figures : Inferior 11 (a) 11$ ; ordinary 111 @ 11 J; j middling 12 @ 12$; good middling 12j @ 12?; j fair 13 @ 18f and choice 13f @ 14 cents. ! Bacon.?There is no country cured bacon in ( market, nor is there any coming in, and we can < therefore only continue our former nominal quota- i tons of 16 cents lb. ! Com.?The receipts of corn during the past < week hare heen lipht. and Drices are a shade hieh- i er. We now quote Sl-15 @ $1.18J bushel. Peas.?Our market is still bare of cow peas, and we feel satisfied they would, in small lots, command $1.50 bushel. Flour. ?We have no change to notice in the prioe of flour, and we therefore continue our for- < mer quotations of ?7 ? $7} for common to good ; brands; superfine $7$; and extra family flour $8 barrel. ????? ] Jipeimtl. TIE ESAMEMEIB j Daily, Tri-Weekly and Weekly. TIIE publication of this journal, from circumstances beyond the control of the proprietor, I has been suspended for some months. Having 1 recently received much encouragement from good 1 and true men, it is proposed to resume its publication without delay, as A LITERARY AND POLITICAL JOURNAL, 1 and we are encouraged to believe on such a basis i as will preclude any probability of failure. As a Literary Journal, it will be devoted to the , developement of SOUTHERN TALENT. There I is no paper in this State and very few in the South( ern States that makes Literature a distinct and i prominent feature. The aim of the Conductors of i THE EXAMINER will be to elevate it to a high ' standard in this department, which will be under I the control of one of the ablest and most experi| enced editors in the State, JOHN G. BOWMAN, Esq., a writer well and favorably known throughout the South. As a Political Journal, it will at once take gTound and abide by the old land marks of THE CALHOUN STATE RIGHTS PARTY, owing no allegiance to any National Party, nor seeking to advance its interests by subserviency to any locai cnque wnatever. it win De entirely independent in its expressions of opinion on public men and measures?in short, the aim will he to makeit a faithful representative of thepeople, and a fearless advocate of the interests of the State. The position of the South at this juncture?the apparent truckling of the appointees and organs of the Adminstration to the Free Soil or Black Republican Party, as exhibited in the course of the Governor of Kansas, demand that the Press of the South should shake off the shackles of party, and unhesitatingly define its position, and avow its determination to maintain and defeud the rights of the Southern States. It is now too late to deplore the formation of sectional parties?the South, at a Section, must fight her own battles or be overwhelmed. This department will be under the direction and management of W. B. JOHNSTON, Esq., long oonnccted with the Journalism of South Carolina, and who is well and favorably known as an experienced Editor. We consider it due to all who may be disposed to sustain it, to avow that in politics the THE EXAMINER will be essentially A STATE RIGHTS JOURNAL. The paper will be continued in the same handsome style and form as before?a large quarto containing eiyht payes and forty columns of matter ?Weekly at TWO DOLLARS per annum. It is also, in contemplation to issue from the same Office and upon the same political principles, THE DAILY AND TRI-WEEKLY EXAMINER, The Daily at Six Dollars aud the Tri-Weekly at Three Dollars per annum. We have all confidence that the State Rights rariy 01 ooum uaronna will sustain at the uapital of the State, such an organ of her ancient and well defined principles. Every consideration oi patriotism, interest and safety demands that in 1 conjunction with other true journals of the State, such an organ should be established and maintained. Those desirious of subscribing or contributing in nny way to its support, will please address "Editors of the Examiner," at this place.
