C Eleven thonsund dollars was subscrib led by the delegates to pay the in debtodness of the national publioation tooiety. When the convention reassembled I the question pending was on t' o third i resolution, that vendors of intoxica ting liqors, or owners of premises 'Oddbpied by then, should bo bcld're-- Y '-ponbible for damages caused by inc briates, and after discussion it wias adopted. The following was also road and adopted : Fourth. That I all temperance societies advocate a u epeaIl of all Stato lleenso laws, and urge Congress to pass laws for the I abolition of the manufacture of all intoxicating liquors in the District of Columbia and Territories. The fifth resolution was also adopted as fol lows Rcsolvcd, That the time has arrived i fully to introduce the Temporanoce issuo in Stato and national politics, and that we recommend all the -friends of temperance to make it henceforth the paramount issue, and y to co-operato with existing party or .ganihations when such vill endorse the legislative policy of prohibition, and nominate candidates pledged to its support, and otherwise to organize aid inaintain separate and indopend bnt party et-ion in every State and in oach congre.dional and electoral ,district of the United States. The sixth resolution, asking Con gress to provide at its next session for the appointment of a commission 'to inquire into the effect of temper aMce on the publio welfare, was adopt ed. The sevent yresolution, urging ministers of the Gospel to preach against the use of intoxicating liquors, was adopted. The eighth resolution, commending to Sab-bath-school o11 'ors the temperance cause, and advis ing the formatman of temperance socie ties in Sabbath-msehools, was adopted. v The ninth resolution, commending temperanco publications, was adopt ,ed. The tonth resolution-, calling on to'nCoiss to pass a law prohibiting, i 'hencoforth, the importation of alee holio beverages, was adopted. The eleventh resolution, requeting the .National Tempel anoe Society to issue t I- text-book showing the evil effects of intemperance, for schools, and urging the introduction of such booke in schools, was adopted. Mr. Gilbert moved the appointment bfa ommittee to preparo such book, Carried. The convention then ad journed sie die. 'The New York State executive 'coininittee orthe pi ohibition party and the conunittoe appointed by the Sons of Temperance, with other radi cal temperanco then of the State have agreed to call a State convention, to meet at Syracuse on the 17th of Sep tcemb'or, to nominate a State ticket.
