We hid occasion a few days ago to visit one of our upper Countie.', and to break the dull monotony of every day life, we, as a matter of course, cuibraced the oppoortunity, and right cheerily for miles did we roll along in our vehicle, for the space of about twenty-three miles. The weather thugh warm and sultry, did not in this instance prove a barrier to our delighted optics, for as far as the eve could reach, with a few exceptions, (for here and there were a field or two of cotton,) were massive fields of corn, verdant in its heavy foliage. We weie, most certainly,delighted to see this, inastnuch as our farmers will not for the next year, at least, be de pendent upon northern markets for another year's r-upply of breadstuffs. This is as it should be, for in it there is a brighter proqpect for plenty. Cotton, as far as we are capable of jnpging is looking well ; and accord ing to the number of acres planted (which is far less than that of las )car) with favorable seasons, will jield well.
