Iedd on Friday last, but the rain which continued tLhroughout the greater part of the day prevented the anticipated pleasures being enjoyed there. Nothing datnted however, the participants assembled inl the ovenling at. the Seminary, and enjoyed themselves luiite satisractorily. As at all success. ful affiirs .of tih. kind, bright eyes sparkled with delight, susceptiblo hearts throbbed with tender emotions, and the most fastidious palate was pleased with i's experien,ce as it revelled among the viands temptingly and lavishly sptead onlt. Red Rock Oil.-Domestic economy ilever pressed its claims more urgently upon .any body of people than it now does upon the families of Fairfield Dis-. trict. And no feature in that economy is more essential in any well-ordered household than the artificial illumination used from nightfill to the time of retir iig to rest. And no illuminator so fully meets the demands of that essential feature as Red Rbck Oil and its concomitant Lamp. For cheapness-it is unsurpassed. IT COSTS JUST siX (6) MILLS AN HOUR. For cleanimtiess-it is superior. There is no.#ummy exudation. For brilliancy-it is second to none. For a soft and mellow he-it is posi tively luxurious For Oafety-though inflamimable, it is niot explosive. This quality, as indeed all 'he others, we have found out by actual experiment. One wick wo judge from our use of it 'so far, will last f.r nearly if not quite a year. It wotill be economy for all families wishing such ai articlo as described abovo for light, to procure the Red Ruck Oil. Messrs. Bacot, Rivers & Co. have the sole right for se-lling this oil in this pistrict, und can furnish dealers in ausy section thereof with the oil by the bar rel, or in less quantities. Our friends rt Ridgeway, Monticello, Alston, Yonguesville, and indeed every country store in the District, would do we'1 to call on the above firm and supply thern selves for. the benefit of their cutomers. They will furnish lhe oil and lamps, and that too at a rate that will enable whole. mal purchases to realize a fitir profit, and at the same time supply their cus torn with Lhe cheapest light ever yet dis covered. N. B.. -We will add that we burn this oil in one of the lrgeat sized parlor lamps ; and that the flame can be adjust. ed to suit weak or strong eyes.
