Backache The twenty-seven women now em ployed hm cow testers by sntno of the fiofi cow-testing associations in this country not only have done satisfac tory work, but have achieved results above tin* average, according to .dairy specialists of the United States depart ment of agriculture. The main reason why women have begun to do this work is the scurcity of-cow testers. Most of the testers at work when the war began were young men and many of them are now in military service. Because of the short age of workers the past y**ar has seen the number of cow-testing associations —organizations of fanners who want to keep records oY their * herds—-de creased from 4711 to 353, although there tuts been an increased demand for such associations, and it is believed the num ber could easily he doubled if enough testers were'available.
