As wo were eyo-witnesocs, we know the whole truth of the matter, which is, that while E. W. M. Muckey was speaking Buttz remarked that the state ments of Maekey were false?whereupon Maekey struck at Uuttz, which was dodged by Uuttz, who quickly returned tho intcn ded compliment by administering to Maek ey, two severe slaps on tho head, which de prived him oi" his artificial sight. Maekey then drew out his revolver, but two well di rected kicks from Ruttz caused Maekey to let fall his pistol, and but for Buttz's nu merous friends dragging Mackey fron H?ttz he, Maekey, would have been badly used or brought to town a corpse. The whole affair was then quieted down, Uuttz taking posses sion of the speaker's stand, Mickey having locked himself up in a room with some of his Democratic friends.
