IN accordance with Section 8, of Article
0, of the General Statutes of tbia State,
you are hereby notified and required to
oauae an election to be held in yoar respec
tive Counties on I lie first Tuesday following
the first Monday of November next, being
the 5th day of the month aforesaid, for
seven (7) persons ns Electors of President
and Vice-President ef the United States.
Now, therefore, you and cftoh of you are
hereby required with strict regard to the
provisions of the Constitution and laws of
this State, touching your duty in such case,
to cause such Election to be held in your re
spective Counties on the dny aforesaid, and
'<>r the ascertaining and determining the
persons who shall have been duly elected
thereat.
All bar-rooms and drinking saloons shnll
be closed on tho day of Election, and any
person who shall sell any intoxicatiog
drinks on that day, shall bo guilty of a mis
demeanor, and on conviotion thereof, shall
bo fined in a sum not less than one hundred
dollais, or bo imprisoned for n poriod not
i less titan ouc mouth, nor more than six
months.

Notice is hereby given io the voters of
Orangeburg County, that in compiace with
tbeabove Proclamation and in pursuance of an
act of the General Assembly approvod March
1, 1870, entitled "An net, providing for the
ioneral election and the manner of conduci
ng the some, amended by an act approved
March 12, 1872, an election will be held in
the County sf Orangeburg at the usual
Polling precincts mentioned below, on the
?th day of November, for sefen Presidential
Electors.
All bar-rooms and drinking saloons shall
be dosed on tin* dny of election, and any
per^ou who shall sell any intoxicating drinks
i on O.c day of election, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, and on conviction t!:;rcof,
shall bo fined in n sum not lets than one
hundred dollars, or be irapriHoncd not less
than one mouth, nor moro than sis months.
The malingers of Election at each Pre
cinct will be furnished with a box which
shall bo publ|cly opened and inspected, to
see that it is empty and secure, and then
locked, just before the opening of ?Us Polls,
by two or moro dcsintcres'.cd parties, and
the keys returned It the muiiagers, and shnll
not be opened during the Election. At tho
close of the Election the Managers and
Clerk shall immediately proceed publicly to
open the ballot box ami count the ballots
therein, and continue such count with
out adjournment or interruption until tho
sumo is completed, and btnke such statement
of the result thereof, and sign the same hs
ii.itIii,- of the Election shall require, if in
ceunting two or moro liko hallota should be
found folded together compactly, only one
shall be counted and the others destroyed,
but if they bear different names, the same
shall be destroyed and not counted. If
more ballots should bo found on opening
the box than there are names on the poll
list, all the hallot-i shall be returned to the
box, and thoroughly mixed together, and
one of the Managers or the (Merk shall with
out seeing the ballots, draw therefrom and
immediately destroy bb many ballots as there
are in excess of the number of names on
the poll-list.
Within three dnfs thereafter tho Chair
man or one of the managers to be designa
ted in writing by the Board, shall deliver to
the Commissioners of Election the poll-list,
the boxes containing the ballots, and written
statement of the result of the Flection in his
precinct. The Polls shall be opened at
? o'clock in tho forenoon and closed at
0 o'clock in the afternoon, on the said day
of Election, and shall be kept open during
these hours without intermission or adjourn
ment, and the Managers shall administer to
each person offering to vole, an oath that
they are qualified to vote at this Election
according to the Constitution of this Stale,
and that they have not voted during this
Election.
In compliance with the above, the Pollw
will bo opened at the following places and
