Coupled and in - connection with, the able aud manly charge ot Judge Carpen ter to the grand jury in the case of T. J. Mackey, wo notiov the charge of Judge Platt to the Barnwell jury, in which his honor uses very remarkable language. His honor sectns to think that iu twelve months every office in the State will he filled by ''Carolina gentlemen." This is a bold' prediction certainly, and a very remarkable ouc, coming from this source. Quill nunc / What next';' Was .Judge Platt in earnest ? Has he any reasons upon ?vliich to base his prophecy ? Who can tell? Perhaps he may be right and this consumation so devoutly wished for and so r? mark ably predicted by .Judge Platt, will be. Is this the beginning of reaction ? AW; these men, foreseeing the future. themselvcB predicting their own fate 'i George Feabody. The telegram from London, informs us that the Bishop of London preached the funeral of George Poabody at West minster Abbey, on the 18th Rist. The Bishop said in his discourse :? "No uotitlcd commoner has ever gat lu r ed such a concourse of sincere mourners arouud his grave, He labored to relieve the wants of the pour and by them he Was beloved, as by all those who sympa thize with poverty and honor benevo lence. It was bis benevolence. It was his business to gather and his joy to give. Two nations will ever reverence his name, -which forms another bond of union between England and America." ?vO/Tabr] and stately etiology Irbni the mitred priest of England, noble lauda tion spoken in the grand altar of West minster Abhey, and resounding through the aisles and nmong the arches of the Church of England's nobles and echoing among the vaults where her kings are sloe^flh'g!" Graudly dirged the organ in conso nance and responsive to the spoken eu logy, and us it dirges through the dim aisles and struck amid the fretted arches, it seemed to chattnt his funeral praises. Vast was the throng, and high born lords and ladies were there to weep arouud his burial. But. greater honors aro his. The poor made happy by his bounty, the sick, re stored by his kindness, tho sad, rejoiced by bis charity, these all as they niter his praises in their hearts and on their knees, ihcse tell his grandest eulogy : and the grand songs of praise and plaud its, ringing through the arches of Heav en's own temple, this will be the grand est eulogy this will be the grand inusio of his dtrgO, theso the honors that arc his. The Masonic Pair opened in Charles ton, on Monday night. It is described as a magnificent affair. * A correspondent of tho Ohio Farmer whose sheep were dying from a disease known in that section as "paper skin," killed one or two of these diseased sheep, about on their lust legs, and on disecting them, fo?ud the tubes of the lungs filled with small thread-like worms, from half an inch to two ?lahes long, and of a whitish color. Ho then killed u healthy, well-conditioVted wether, examined its lungs and found nothing of the kind.
