At the crack of the pistol the colored men left, leaving Mr. Riley alone with tho dying man, and having no Wiipon of any dcf.criptiblt al halid, and the Potior?, being fuMy armed and apparently desperate, he was powerless to arrest thcin. Sometime sineo, we gave an account of the 'shooting of Mr. John Porter, a btother of llanaford ami Mi Hedge, by Lattiguc, hi the Fork, and it is supposed that the Porters be lieved Jordan assisted Lnrtigue in that transac tion. The ball that killed Jordan passed over the. shoulder of Mr. Riley, taking the lint from his coat, and tho powder burning his neck; in the meantime if Mr. Riley had straightened up ho would have received the discharge himself, and we would have hud to chronicle also, the death perhaps, of this esti mable gentleman, as Millidge Porter stood ready with hia duublo barrel guu levelled to shoot Jordan if llanaford failed. Tho Coroner's Inquest announced the deed a.cold blooded murder. '^Tho Porters, as yet, havo not been arrested. Mr. Jordun was the son-in-law of Mr. Daniel Yj>nng, a,,d wo h?"r> a? honest, hard-working man. Uc leaves a young wife to muuru his untimely fate. rFotJNl> Dead.?A colored hoy by the name of Edward Black, was found dead, a few days since, in tho field of Mr. Paul C. Stroman. Tho finding of tho Coroner'? inquest was?died from neglect and hunger. l!c Was a boy of unsound mind, and no one knew that, hq was about the premises until discovered by Mr. Stroman ingoing over his field.-- the day before the inquest.
