A heavy pressure of busluesa List week eaused us to neglect tu announce the death of an old and very rcttpootable citizen of our Town, Mr. Jatncs Harlcy. Ho.died in a good old age, being some eighty years old. He was nearly all his life and up to the time of his death a consistent arid worthy member of the mctho dist church. He leaves friends innumerable, and a large family to mourn his loss. We take pleasure in announcing to our many readers that in accordance with the promise made cur ''Salutatory" to make the OnANUKUuna News a live paper, we hare made arrangements with Malcom I. Drowning Esq., to assist us in our editorial labors. Mr. Drowning will make his how in our next issue, and we leave it to his facile pen to portray what witl be his efforts to please our generous patrons. The prisoners sentenced to be hung are to be confined in the County Jail of Richlaud until the day of execution. The Camphell Minktkei.i.h, so-called.! gave an entertainment here on last Thursday evening. They drew quite a respectable house, nnd, if we arc allowed to judge, the audience, "or any other man," seemed satisfied when the performance closed. Thou Can'st not sat I did it.?W* in nocently accused our old Council, in our lust issue, of being the "constructionists," of the obstruction in Market-street. We learn since, that it was "put up" by private parties, and that our old Council allowed it, thinking that it might accrue to the benefit of tho Town generally. We tender our apologies to the old Council, but renew oar request to the pre sent Council, to have it removed, or fixed up, nnd enforce the Ordinances passed by the ex Council iu relation to peddling produce through the streets until after certain h/mrs. Wo need a market, and every town in the State prides itself in such a luxury, but Orangcburg?but a market without a bell, i like a woman without a tonguo, something use less in a country town, therefore, wa would urge, if our Couucil concludes to fix up, rather shaa ic?~ :\, wu. 0?e purchase of a bell?so as to let our good citizens know when theie is torn tilling for safe in the market.
