Louis, caught on fire from a spark on the roof, and for a abort time threatened becoming a serious af fair. Rut the prompt assistance furnished by friends and neighbors, nud the timely arrival of the Engine Companies of the village, soon put the flames under control, aud the damage was slight. We were glad to observe, that our colored friends vied with the whites in their efforts to extinguish the fire;?nn evidence of good will on their part which is fully appreciated. Mr. Louis requests us to extend his heart felt thanks to all his friends, whose efforts con tributed to save his home from destruction: and we would add those of your humble ser -rant of the quill, who is under similar obliga tions. On Tuesday the market was quiet, with a decline of \c. en prices of the day pre vious. There was only a limited demand on Wednes day, and prices irregular, and in favor of Buyers.
