Act of TviiANNY?Tho ac count of i tho imprisonmont of Judgo Pope at Jacksonville' by a lieutenant of tho army, will be read this morning with an universal thrill of indignation. A feeble old Khan Is imprison ed by a sub-officer for refusing to discriminate iu favour of negroes. The officer enters the the Court of Justice, presided over by a judge whose loyalty has never been questioned, dissolves the court, and scrds the judgo and his civil officers to jail, with tbe cool, cruel remark?'"Corporal, conduct tbe judge to jail; take him steadily,, for he is very feeble." Yes, very ' feeble, but stronger to-day than a lion in the affections aud support ol the people of | Alabama ! Not only so, but when a crippled, gray headed, old man expresses his indigna tion at the outrage upon the judge, his crutch is snatched from bim by a number of brutal soldiers, is broken over bis bead, and tbe old man is himself hurried off fo jail. Wo forbear comment, for General Mcado J has threatened to imprison us if we dare to publish words which arouse tbe prejudices and passions of our poor, down-trodden people. The tale is told; let the people consider the moral? And lei General Shepherd diligently investigate whether the men iu bine uniform who. heat tbe crippled old man over the head with his own crutch were not disguised mem bers of the Kuklux-Klau '{?'Montgomery j/a/7, Wt.'t inst.
