\ Can't Takk Pahskmjkrs.?Some time ago the Railroad Commission received a petition from a large number of traveling men asking I hat it intercedes with the Richmond & Danville Railroad authorities to allow them the use of ibe freight tra lis of the Spartanburg, Union end Columbia Road, as the passenger service of that road is meagre. The olerk of the Railroad Commission hns received the following le ter from Superintendent McUre: "Mr. M. T. Dnrtlctt, Secretary, Columbia, 8. 0. 'Dear Sir: Reiilvinz to Your lo'ter of the 1st insl, enclosing petition of commcreinl trnvchrs re'ntivc to riding on freight trn<ns on the Spirtanhurg, Un on and Columbia llnilroad, we undertook to handle pnssengers on this train Inst year, and from the mero fact tint we advertised the train would c ?rry passengers we were forced to run it every day. Our business is s> light we ate frequently compelled to aunul this train, nnd while 1 would be g'ad to accominola'e the commercial travel in evcy possible way, we cannot atford to instruct agents to sell tickets f-r this train, nnd then annul it, without ample notice to the passengers. 1 am sure you appreciate thu difficulties under which we would rest, and the cimplain's that would necessarily artre if we were to run the trains so irregularly as we have to do now for want of business. Mr. Eison was a man of very decided oharacler, honest, truthful and true in all the re'ations of bfe. As a neighbor and friend he was liberal to a fault and true ns the needle to the pole, and if he ever did anything to cause pain or nnguiihto am one it was certainly an error of the bead not of the heart.
