Speaking to a reporter Mr. Lumpkin gars some interesting politic it facts conoerning the counties of York, Laotjastaf and Kershaw. He said that the goad OPtlservatise farmers of thoso and other oenntics in the up-country were no longer the blind followers of Tillman wbiob they were in 1890. ~ The farmers througmit the country wero doiug their own thinking nud they wero becoming disgusted wiih the bitterness which Tillman has dragged tnto thi? campaign. In Mr. Lumkin's opinion Governor Tillman had not made a speech sinco the campaign opened which had not materially injure 1 him with the best class of farmers. Tbeso men, he thought, had been led into an endorsement of the unroasoniog warfare which Tillman waged against corporations and captlal two years ago without at heart I | ' W ??.v?5 -< <><uvr was inimical to their iutereat. They were now reasoning the matter out fvr themselves, and, like the sturdy, honest men that they are, were beginning to abandon a cause which could not fail to be dotrimoutal to themselves. The farmers, sa'd Mr. Lumkio, are awaking to the fact that they havs got hold of the wrong man to lead them, and they will soon mako a public acknowledgment at the polls of th?t conviction. The uliauge which was in progress was a rapid one. The speaker said that he called to mind just then one out of mauy clubs in the up-country. The club ho referred to Wts iu York oouuty. It was a club composed exclusively of farmers, and in 1800 its solid vote had been oist for Tillman. This year Tidtuau would not get a vote in the club, and this was not an isolated oass.
