If a p'antcr calculates on makiug thirty b.dcs next season his factor will advauce secured by a mortgage, at 8 por cent, on the prospective crop. When the cotton is made and sent to the merchant ho tukcs out his principal and interest, and gets besides his charges for handling the crop,. THE SALARIED AUENT. ( , The farmers think they can do this factorage business through n paid agent aud get larger net returns. They say, too, that Viv h piow is nui cnougit iu mime ft crop properly. This is their plan : The co-opcrative organisation, composed of all the branches . ?~~ - of the Alliance, forms a sort of stock con * i pany, with shares at $10 each. No member can take more than fifty shares. This is to 'v, prevent a few from getting control of the * _ stock in a county. It is expected that over " v $20;000 in cash will bo raised in this way this year. i This Bum will be placed in n bank ns collateral margin, Thon, on the Co-opcrativo Association's note, it is hoped that the money wanted can bo obtained. The money will be loaned to planters through the Sub-Alliances. Three farmers will give ft joint note for the money thoy require. Each farmer is to be a chock against tho other two. All three * must send their cotton to tho Alliance Exchange in Savannah, and each maker of a joint note is to seo to it that neither of his fellow-endorsers ships his cotton any where else. Theoretically the plan seems to bo a good one and the farmers are taking to it. . They consider that the. margin in bank will be again ii an,. a . papers. The Alliance holds itself responsible. - Special finance committees, wiitae business it will be to look after the crops and the prompt paymont of tho notes, ramify the ife organization. Money can be borrowed for 0 per cent on good security and the Allianco will lend it to tho planter at 8 per cent, t A handsome profit has been figured out. \ / The not revenue will bo added to tho capital stock subscribed and additional shares will be issued. In tho course of time tho profits aro expected to reach suoh an amount that no more borrowing from capitalists will be necessary. When that point is reached the Alliance will start a bank of its own.
