Iiint Fall, when the question of building a road from (Jaflney City to this point, and on to Newberry, was so btrongly urged, we expressed a decided preference for it road from Charlotte to Augusta, along the very line now proposed, from Charlotte, via Yor.< ville and Union, as it would open up an important region of this ( section of our State, not only to railroad facili- I ties, but to a competitive line of traffic and tiavel, which would insure to us lower freights and passenger fare, and at the sane tune, give i us direct communication with important mar- i keis at its termini, guaranteeing t> the road j profitable business.
