Editor :?I see other Townships nro giving some news items to the Timet, hut none hus appeared of late from Jonesville, so 1 wilLgive you a few items in my unbroken manner. Onte^better than one would expect from the fact that we have had a very dry spring, barely rain enough for corn and cotton, but that was all the belter, for a wet Spring with the heavy crop put in, the gross would have taken us. nc nave n gooa scnoi i 111 jonesvuie now, mostly on the female order, as our teacher is a femnlo and one well qualified for that important position, Miss Leila Bailey. This is her first year with us and wo hope to keep her another year, but we fear she will give herself away and we will lose her valuable services. Several of we Jonesvill) folks went on an exaiirsion yesterday to Ilerdersonville, N. C., which was very enjoyable indeed. The good cold water ; the mountain scenery and the kind reception by the good people of Ilcndersonville, made the day a pleasant, profitable and happy one. All returned safe and sound, except two or three unfortunate cows that remained on the railroad track just a leetle too long. We hear you are having Court at Union, but we arc just too busy to attend. Hope the Lawyers may all be successful and gain all their cases. i will not say much about-the working of the stock law at present, from the fact thai Jonesville is not a very healthy place to discuss the ?- ?- law, unless you oppose it; but another year may work a change in the minds of many of its opponents. Perhaps my communication may draw out others. So I will close and watch the columns of the 7Snus. JI, June 18, 1879. Fatal Finn in Georgia.?Atlanta, Ga., June 23.?J. F. Reynolds' house, near Joncsboro. lias been burned, and his daughter and sisterin-law, young girls of 13 and 10 years, perished. The fire originated in their room, which was locked on the inside. They were blinded or bewildered and could not open the door. ? The father of one of the girls, who had been awakened by the flames, called to them and tried to break the door in. He then went to save his wife and barely succeeded in getting her out. It is feared lie is fatally burned. The bodies of the girls were literally charred. The tire is supposed to be accidental. Everything was a total loss. ? ? Tiif. The men denied the charge, and agreed to leave with the Sheriff a suflieieul amount of goods to secure the clnun until they could prove their innocence, but took particular pnins not to do anything of the kind.?Anderton Journal. . . Tiik A.nti-Trbating Society of New York lias proved a success. The Iff raid says the society is not holding many meetings or singing temperance songs, but its pledges are doing a great deal of genuine temperance work. An association of the same kind should be started in every city and towu in the Union.
