If the udder is hot and tender, bathe for an hour at a time with warm water, rubbing on a little alcohol when it is stopped, and repeating this tw^ce a day. If there is little heat or pain when handled, rub the effected quarter daily with a mixture ol'thrce ounces compound tincture of iodine and six ounces camphorated spirit. Digitalis is used with success in such cases. It is given in doses of from ten to thirty grains, daily for five or six successive days.
