Gen. HAMPTON, himself the mont
prominent aud influential Southern fig?
ure of the last Democratic Convention,
did not fail to see the injurious results
of the part then taken by the South,
and now, with bis manly, open hearted
frankness, publishes the fact, and
advises that course which is prompted by
a wisc conservatism.
The Rascally Swindlers.
The following precious document bas
been received at this office. It would
neem thut there were none so unwary os
to be caught in such a trap. It is said
that "io vain is the net spread in sight
of any bird," and yet, evidently, some
are caught by these daring swiudlers
