TO SENATOR O'DELL AND RERE. 8ENTATIVES CARPENTER AND MAULDINi The time for the ineeting of the legisla tUrO is near at hand and we beg to make a few suggestions to you as representatives of this county, which, if you see proper. can act upon theml. It is well known to you that our county finances tire short and have been for a n.mr r her of years, that is to say that, the taxes - which will be collected this fall go to pty debts of the county contracted t wo or three years ago. It is true %,bat we have had some heavy debts on ts. but the largest of these (the railroad debt) will soon be off and the taxes from this source will be con Ing over the other shoulder. But it seems to us and %e believe that a majority of the f citizens of this mounty will agree that it would be ceonomy to levy a suficient ; amount, for county purposes to ruit the af . fail; on a cash basis. It seems to us that d the tax payers would not object to paying a little heavier tax for this purpose one s year an<d parties ioing work for the county t would do it much cheaper if they knew e that the money was in the treasury to pay Sthein as soon as the work was (tone. Let f us hi.ve s,ne reform in this respect. Par ties who now work fer the county have to wait two or three years for thOi money or dlisco'nt their claims, many of them 25 per cent or more. HUt.
