SNoLta-oN. --The Greenville News of the 8th inst., States that the Hotel (IC Gower, on Cedar Mountain was destroyed by tire on the 5th Inst. The hotel was owned by Mr. T. C. Gowver, of Greenville, and was quite a fav ornte summer resort. Nothliing but a pinol( and some linen were saved. Tlhe house was insured for $1,500 and the furniture for $500. -The Bloardl of Education for the Twelve Mile Association will meet at Pickens C. h., Saturday next, the 16th, inst., to transact some business of implortance. Kirksey, secretary, and several new Imemlibers were enrolled. Mr. Allgood rei the all iiAnd declared the club readIy for business. Mr. J. Tyre Looper nomlilated lion. W. T. Dowen for tenlorary chairanal. Julius j. IIogg8 nomnnated V. B. Al1ood. The sceretary put the vote by a division of the club which resulted, 81. for Bowen and 28 for' Allgood. Mr. J. K. Kirksey was re-elect ed secretary. On motion, the temporary organization was made pI manent. Capt. J. A. Uriflin nominated J. E. Boggs for first vice-president, seconded by Rev. W. B. Singleton. J. T. Looper non inated J. D. Cureton. Ti,he vote stood on a division of the house, 52 for Boggs and 55 for Cureton. The chair announced that the next thing in order was the election of delegates to the convention. T. C. Robinson turned quickly and looked on brother L. I The club was harmonious throughout. There was not a single speech or argu-i ment except a few apprnpriate remark, by Capt. Grilin in noninati ng his candidate for the first vice. presidency. There was no resolution or any instructions to dele gates. No alternates were chosen to the convention. Everything but calling tihe 'oll and enrolling a few new members, seems to have beet attended to before the club convened. It was the largest meeting the club had ever had. The following committees were, oil mo tion, appointed by the chair: On regitration-T. C. Iobinson, J. A. Grillinl and G. W. Dorr. Executive Committee --- J. D. Cureton, J. T. Looper and L. It. Diurham. It is hardly necessary to add that WY. B. Allgood represented the conservative side of our politics, and W. T. Bowan the Till man side. EASLEY CLUB.
