A BI LIBEL SUIT. An Acilon for Ten Thousand Dollars )anages for Alleged Defamation of Character. The papers have already stated that Gen. Edward MoCrady, Jr., of Charles ton, has sued Dr. T. O. Robertson, of Columbia, for ten thousand dollars dam aged, for libel. The document on which the suit is founded is the following letter written by Dr. 1tobertson to Gen. Mc Crady: "1 have frcoly stated to parties in Co lumbia and elsewhere that in the conduct of the suit of Mary F. McCrady vs. All(n .Jones et al. you havo been guilty of falsehood, treachery and scoundrel ism, and as I desire to say nothing be hind your back that I would not say to your face, 1 write this that you may kuo;v exactly what I have said. "You have sworn falsely under oath when, at Chester, on 2d of August last, you testified you had paid $t;00 for cor tain judgments. "You uttered a falsehood when, in your argument before J udge Vallace on Vedueday last, you raid you had been enticed into the arbitration, knowing, as you did, that you had proposed and namt d both arbitrators. "You actd treacherously and in bad faith when you prepared and signed the lapers binding all parties to faithfully abide the award, and when it was against you refusing to do fo, and openly and slauefully before Judge Wallace claim ilg that the agreement so prepared by you was illegal, that you knew it to be such, and would not abide the award of J udge Wallace's decree if it sustained it. "You ated both rascally and dishon estly when 3oul bought a mortgage for a nominal sum tud brought stit on it, whu as our attorney in 1881 you had adv l.,ed uts it was worthless. '"'ou acted the scoundrel when you proposed to us to accept the award of tlie arbitration in part, provided we , oild consent to let this mortgage, krnwn to you to be worthless and for which you only paid $20, take prece dence of a good one given Pelzer, lolgers & Co. "You acted the knave when, failing in this, you proposed to Mr. Pelzor, Who was ig;ornot of the facts, to prorate oIr worthless papcr with his good n' irt gage. ''You1 acted the scoutidrel when you threatenel us with three years' litigation if we would not accept from you $2,000, for the l+anle ilterest we olTered you $ I,Oii0. Power and property may be dear to you, but ob)tatincd at such sacri fiee e,iu benefit you little. You may waste the estate in litigation.
