It-was k very enjoy able occasion, tnole Thomas is still posessod of great vitality and energy. Not long after dinner we saw him in a clearing industriously engaged in cutting away the undergrowth. Last Monday we wore honored With a call froni Mrs Naomi L. Olayton aocom panied by her nephew, Mr. Egelte George. Mrs. Clayton i4 a woman of ran:a:kable energy and activity, and is blessed, in a great measure, with the vi tality of her younger days. She says that her nie.e, Mr.a. R. D, Combs of Adairsvillo, Georgia, is soon to take a trip to Washington Territory. Mr. Goorge is a skillful typo, and is now en" joying a short rest from his profession, Do not worry your brai of waste yo r time With pateits. Fortune is so dapridious that only a few patentees and poets can achieve great ness, or accumulate wealth in a century. This century has already furnished its share. The observation and cunning foresight of the people generally, is now so extetiaive that there is little room for a most deserving invention to succeed. Our people have besn visited by so many kinds of agents that they are beginning to pride theinselvos upon their ability to say "no" to the most tempting offers. The friends of Mrs. Joseplino A. Car ver, will regret to hear of her death, which occurrod at Piethmont on the 17th inat. She had been sick with neaal1 a only a short time. Her remains were buried at Enon in this county on the following day. Her son Crew, a young mian just growl, is also dangerously ill. The family is well and favorably known in this county, having moved from the neighborhood of Enon only a few months since. 'rho Greenville News of the 20th inst. has the following! "W. B.
