Mr. Perrin O'Dell, near Easley, is the ohampion potato raiser of the County. - He had a sweet potato pie on the 26th of June. Who can boat it. Capt. Wm. Hunter brought to this office last- Monday, cotton blooms, which opened on the 27th ult. The Captain has 88 acres in cotton this year. Capt. R. L. Lewis, of Central, that bigshearted, wholeisouled, prince of good follows, and champion school teacher, was here last Friday. The accout of the examination and exhi - bj*on of his school will appear next week. Thanks to Mr. W. W. F. Bright for nice, luscious peaches, of "Hale's Ear ly," "Early Rivors" and "Early York" varleties. The scions came from the Atlanta nursery, (Cole & Wallace) and the fruit ripens early in June. COTTON BLOOM.-R. E. Holcombe brought to our office last Monday, a cotton bloom. lie had them on the 25th June, two days ahead of Capt. Hunter. Mr. A. R. N. Folger has also sent us a bloom which opened on the 30th. Mr. F. hais but recently turned his attention to farming, but is about to prove one of the most suc, cessful farmers in the County. Sheriff Mauldin carried -Bowen, colored, conv'icted of house breaking at last term of court, to the peniitenti ary last week. Jio also carried a lunia tic, Virgil Mladdon to the Asylum, and brought home with him Virgil Ellis, who has been in the Asylum for some time. Mr. Ellis has improved in mind ver'y much, but hiis phiysical health is not good.
