Benjamin 1Nagood, died at the residence of hor son, J. E IIagood, Esq., in this place, on Monday morn% ing last, aged 70 years. Tho funeral took place in the Methodist church at this place, on Tuesday at 10 o'clock A. M. The services were conducted by the Rev. A. Coke Smith, who deliver, ed a very eloquent and impressive dis course on this sad occasion, from the text, 44t h verse, 24th chapter of Matthew: "Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh." After the funeral the remains were intoi red in the family burrying ground, five miles north of this place. The deceased leaves a largo family of children and grand-childred and many relativesand friends to mourn her death. Though not a member of any church, the de consed had lived the life of a Christian, and truly a good woman has passed from amongst us to meet heareward above. CURE Foi DIPTIIERIA.-Tho Greens. boro' Patriot says: Below we give a remedy for this disease, which has proved successful in the hands of a very eminent physician of Mocklen, burg County, N. C., Dr. J. M. Strong. It is handed us for publicantion by Dr. Rt. K. Gregory, who received it from Dr. Strong, who has used it in his practice in Meeklenburg County, and out of a largo number of cases saved all. Try it, it is simple and can be easily used by any one: Boil two drachms of plug tobacco in one quart of water down to one pint, then add one drachm of powdered red pepper, ono teaslpoonful of talt and ten drops of carbolic acid.' Shako well and ap ply with a feather, brush or mop to the throat every hour, or gargle the throat of the patient. The diet should be rich and nutritious. Such as milk, eggs, beef or mutton essence, chicken soup, &c.-Charlotto Observ - er.
