The building of a ne w bridge over 8aluda river, near the place of the Easley old bridge, was let out last f week by the County Commissioners of Prokens and Greenville Conuties .onjointly, for $875. We are Informed by competent parties that the bridge, when completed, will he a better bridge than time "Bent bridge" was, for whIch the two counties, in lW, paid over fourteen hundred dollara. This bridge is in a dangsrous condition--people are obliged t.o take their stock out andl reil, their wagons over by band. The Comssoners should attend to this U)att&at once. Mr. Beese Bowen met with the misfortune of having his corn cribs burned on last Monday. The cribs, four In number, and all under one roof, stood near' the dwelling and but for a large walnut tree bot*eet them, the dwelling would have probably shared the fate of the cribs. The origin of the fire is not known, but is rupposed to have beten accidental. It is reported that Gen. Grant likes Europe an'd will stay there a year longer. DACUSVILLE ITEXS. Hrid ruins in great abundance last week. Fodder "pulling" is the order of the day. Cotton is opening much earlier than usual. Potatoes are good, and turnips are doing well. The young men about Peter's Creek huve organized a Debating Society, which is creating quite a sensation in that quarter. The bridge across Peter's Creek is in a dangerous condition, and it is hoped that our worthy County Comt missioners will look after it at once. The 'spirit" of improvement still continues, Mrs. Martha Robinson has added an L to her dwelling, which gives it an improved appearance. Mr. Miles Eingleton has built a neat plank fence in front of his dwel,. ling, which looks city-like. Every body admires it. The "smoke up the branch" grows quite dim, and will soon disappear entirely. Prof. Freeman's singing school at Peter's Creek has closed. About Christmas, look for - , well, you know what always follows those in stitutions. BONEs.
