LOCAL ITEMS. Engli1b~p*e" are Ih bloom herej The weather for the past few days is really delightful. Monday last was the warmest day of the seseon. To cure dull times, apply an adver tisement to the afflicted part. Rev. 1qgh McLees will occupy the pulpit ihhe Methodist Church on the 5th Sunday, the 29th inst, Hon. D. F. Bradley, one of our Representatives, left here on Sunday last, to attend the meeting of the State Legislature. Tanned squirrel skins, for the pur pose of making telephones, are in great. demand at this place, and a fair price will be paid for them by the young man with the sid'e whiskers. Died, at the residence of her father, Mr. Abel Hendricks, on Monday 16th inst., Miss T. A. Hendicks. She was an estimable young lady, and her death will be mourned by all who knew her. All nature is now rapidly putting on again that beautiful and golden green dress so pleasant and agreeable to the eye. Spring is certainly the most lovely season of the four. - 0* The piscatorial season promises to be one of considerable profit to our merchants, for the fisiing mania is not confined to the young, but is participated in by those of riper years. Hence fishing tackle is in demand in these parts. Plant all kinds of garden seeds just as quick as possible. It will be en, tirely safe, for there will be no rnore frost. Persimmon leaves will escape boing killed this time sure. Writwithitanding the hard times and scarcity of money, Mr. WV. Tr. .. McF"all hais just received and opened a splendii stock of everything usually kept in an u -countr~y store. All fresh and new. Call on him when you como to Pickens and see for your We hteard the tirst whiIppoorwill of the season on Sunday evening last. No inure cold weather wvill be expe rienced. Seed timo is upon us. Faur, mer's should hasten to plant now. Very little corn anid lese.cotton has, as yet, been planted in this CJountry. 'ihe peaca crop in this County is, we think, a certainty. We have been minus peaches here since 1874. Many, fanrmors had laid the axo at the root of their trees in case they missed the present year. His shingle will read: ".D. H.
