LOCAL ITEMS. Comeforward and pay one-tenth of your last year's tax to the Hampton Government. The snow is likely to remain for some time, unless it is thrown out by some returning board. Professor C. says his sentiment for hunting in the snow has been cured, andje will not undertake it again qnless he is counted in by the return ing board. EmPTY TITL.-We are informed that Mr. J. F. Fd!-ger has been ap.% pointed Auditor of this County by Ex-Governor Chamberlain. An empty title. PAINFUL ACCIDENT.-J. Riley iFer.. guson, Sheriff of this County, while sleigh riding A Friday, wag thrown out and both bones of his right leg, just above the ankle were broken. We learn the horses wore going rap, idly, and in turning a corner, the sleigh struck a post, upseting it, which caused the accident. DIED.-Mrs. Mary L. Goodlett, re liet of the late Col. S. D. Goodlett, died at her residence in this place on Friday last. She had suffered scvgrely for several months from a complica tion of diseases, which finally termin ated her existence. She was a de voted member of the Baptist Church, and died a christian. 11or remains were taken to Greenville on Saturday evening for interment. Ex-Gov. Chamborlain has gone through the farce of re-appointing Mr. W. A. Lesley, Treasurer of this County. On last Monday, Mr. Lesley presented his bond to thb County Commissioners for approval, with the following named gentlemen on it as securities, viz: Hardy Gilsrap, Joab Mauldin, I. II. Philpot, Tu. R. Price, and J. L. Thornley. The Corymis sioners not recognizing Mr. Chamber izain as Governor of South Carolina, nor his r'ight to appoint any man to office, refused to allpprove the bond. Mr. Joab Mauldin, subsequently with drew his name from the bond. Thae man who palys taxes to the Chamberlain usurpation is throwing away his money; but the matn who pays to the IIampton Governmnent is pefomng a patiotic dutly. AlR. EnITon I'ml inifoi-merl that you pro lposed pul hinmg with comments the niames of all suret les tihat sign the Bond of W. A. Lesley, Sounty Treasurer, a Chamberlain appointee. I signed said bond, having no thaight that thereby I would be in any wise recognizing the Chsamberlin usurpation. In the opinion of some of my friends it seems that thug doing, I would be giving the color of a support to the Chamberlain government, I, accordingly have had my name taken from the bond, as I do not either by deed or wordi wish to give any support to Chamberlain or S his revolutionary acts, believing as I do, that Hampton is, and ought to be, and will 1;e ffnally declared Governor of the Common wealth of Sonth Carolina' Very respectfully.
