PICi%ENS C. U., S. C.: -0O Thursaday. Nov. 16, 1876. Twa ""Iection. The result of the election is va. riously statted ias giving to General IHampton a majority over Chamber, lain from 1,347 to 2,000. It is not possible to tell the exact count yet. The Republicans claim that Chamber. lain has it majority over Hlampton, but do not give tho figures. It is hoped that the representativo men of the State who are requested to be in Columbia, will look closely after the workings of the Board of Stato can vasaers, and see that no frauds are committed, and the Beard be held within the bounds of their jurrisdic tion, and not allowed to usurp powers which the conetitution and la w of the State do no not give to them. A majority of the Board are directly and personally interrested as can didates on the Repjublican ticket, and are more than likely to strain ev'ery point to secure their own election, and, if ncessary, to throw out enough De,. cratic boxes to acecomplish their aims. We, however-, have contideu'ce in the wisdom and sagacity of the Demo eratio Executivo committee, and be lieve that they will look after the in terest of the good citizens3 of the~ State, who have done their whole duty in electing HIamp)ton as our Governor. Woe would adviso our peo. ple to keep cool, and leave their inter. est in the hands of iho State Execu tivo Committee, and other good citi sens, who have and atre taking a lively interest in the count of the votes, feelidg confident that they will do their whole duty.
