Contrao!s made for TUN8, oix or TWZLVZ month., on favorable terms. Advertisements not having the number of Insertions merked on them, will be published until forbid and charged sccordingly. These terms are so simple any child may understand them. . Nine lines is a square oue inch, In every instance we charge by the space occupied, as eight or ten lines can be made to occupy four or five squares, as the advertiser utay wish, and is charged by the OpUcO. MW Advertisers will please state the num ber of squares they wish their advertisements to make. MW Business men who advertise to be benefitted, will bear in mind that the 8ENTINEL has a large and increasing cir culation, and -:: taken by the very class of persons whose trade they desire. PICKENS 0. H., S. C.: Thursday. Nov. 9, 1S76. The elootion at this place passed off q1detly-not even a quarrel during the day. They did splendidly, Hamp. ton's majority being 209. In all pre. vious elections the Republicans have beat us hero from 125 to 150 votes. The Domocrats to the number of 30 or 40 woro on the hill when the polls opened. Nearly every Domocrat re mained at the polls until they wore closed. We have never before soon 80 much enthusiasm and earnest work as was done on that day. The Do-. mocrasts did their whole duty. The Next State Fair. We are froquently asked, will there be a State Fair this winter? We take pleasure in giving an affirmative answer to the inquiry, and urge upon all our readers to remember, that on the 28th Novembher inst., the State Fair will open in Columbia, and we anticipate not only a largo contribu tion of articles, but a wonderful turn out of the people. It will be the first djmnonstration af ter the dianthralment that takes place on the 7th N~ovemn bor, and will be a fit time for the manitestation ofjoy we have in store for such an occasion. Our farmners aud mechanics should remember, too, that contrit)utions to a Fair are worthless unless there are pe iple in atendancue to see thie articles. Ifta thousand people each send one article to exhibit, and all stay at home they conitribute but little 1o the suc cois of the Fair. But if half that n imber each send one article and dou b'o that number go to see them the, Fair is p)ronoun)ced a suiccess. Tue expenseO of attending the Fair often prevents our' people1 from filling Columbia to ove flow during Fair woeok. I ncreasod hotel accomnmoda tion, and cheaper .ailroad travel (say three cents a mile for the r'ound trip) will throw into Columbia thousands who will not otherwiso attend, and ponr into the coffers of our railroads more net money than is reccived any other week during the year. WVill not the President of the Society, and Ao cit-ize of Columbia effect and advertise arrangements to this end? We hope so. MEETINGS.-The Democracy held a meeting at Easley Station on last Friday. There was, we are informed a good turn out, and the meeting wsas addressed by Maaj. T. B. Ferguson of' Greenuville, Maj. R~ussell, of Anderson, and Dr. Erting, of Williamston. .Every thing passed oaf peaceably, and if there was any good accomplished, our friends evidently discovered it on Tuesday last. On Saturday following there was a su1c"essful meeting at Central Station. Mr. E. B. Murray of Anderson deliv. ered a speech. The good D)emocrats of Pickens worked like heuoes tipto the last hour, and all honor to them for it. We are Informed that the chestnut crop was never better in Jackson county, N. 0., than the present year. Nearly every male child, born in this county Sinoe the campaign open.. ed, has been named Wado Hampton. The Rad4eal tickets were printed with red ink. This was inutimidation, ansd Dauiei should pr'oiawate. Maen, ' ive, 0 MajOrit2 TO EIeOtnE. There seems to be no doubt of th election of Tilden and Hendricks.
