It wjY be at a high premium on the 7th. Chestnuts are plentiful at this place.-So are Hampton voters. Chamberlain voters in this section are like angles' visits, "few and far between." Proclamations failed to enrry lhe election in Louisiana, and they will fail in South Car.. *olina The Air Line Railro d will be sold in At anta, December the 6Th. All business should be suspended on' next Tuesday. and the day devoted to our cause -Let the merchants of Pickens County close up and work for lampton, Reform and Home Rule. A colored Democratic club has been organ ized at Easley with Albert Dednan as Presi dent- We have received the proceedings and regret that we have not the space to Ilublish them, This is the last issue of the SXNTINEL before the election, Let our readers, every one of them, go to (lie polls and vote for Hampton, Reform and Home' Rule- If they will do so, we will be enabled to announce to them in our next issue, that South Carolina has been redeemed, and peace and prosperity has re turned to us. Democrats, be at the polls at six o'clock in the morning, and remain there until the last #vote is polled- Let no man vote without first offering him the opportunity of voting for Hampton, Reform and Iome Rule. Col. Keith, we are informed,- addressed the citizens of Easley on Saturday night, after he had spoken at tius place. As at this place, -all who heard hini were delighted, and speak in the highest terms of his speech. We only regret that the voice of Col. -Keith has not been heard in every county of this State . H -e ha done noble work in his own county, which will show its fruits on the 7th -instant. FATAL Accoss)ET-We have re ceivedl the sad intelligenice, thait the boiler of an engine, used in ginning cotton at. Easley Stat ion, ex.. phoded on Alonday last, instantly killing Mr. .1lihn Brooks, a wvorthiy young whn ite man, arnd seriously scalding a colored man. The top ot Mr. Brook's head wias torn off, and his body hlowmn some dlistanice. We have not learmnedl the cause of the explosion, nor aniy of the particulars of this sad accident. ATTENTION C En.p.-Th'e members of Pickens C, H. D "'7ic Club are requested to ans, semble at' rn% place early on Friday morning 4 (to-morrow) mounted mnd uniformed for the purpose of attendiing the public mieeting at - .asley St at ion on t hat day. Arrangeme~nt x will (lien be miade for attending (lie meetinig at Central Station on the next daty, Saturday. As many of the Eastatoe and P'umpk;ntownu Chibs as can join us are respect fully invited to do so- D). F. BRA DLEY, Presidenit. THlE MlEETING ON THlE 28TH.-The meeting at this place, on last Saturday, was a com plete success, notwithstanding the impres sion had gone out in cortain sect ions of the County that it had been postponed. There were three or four hundred present, and the -Oourt House was literally cirammed. The .T'.nupkintown anid Eastatoe Clubs turLed out in force, uniformed anud nmounted, and made a spaendid appearance. The P'ickens CI. 11. Club was mounted and received them with hearty obeers. A procession of (lie mounted me~n was formed, and after niarching out be yond the residence of Dr. Earle, returnedl, dismounted and repairedi to thie Court House. when the speaking began. 'After thie meeting had been called to order by Col R, E- Bowen a committee was appointed to go out on the streets and invite the colored men in to hear t the speaking. The commit tee succeeded in inducing nearly all (about 25 in number) to go into (lie Court Ilouse- The whites at once vacated their seats for the colored men. Col. Blowen then introdluced Col. WV. C. Keith, of Walhalla, who, in his eloquent and forceable sityle, riveted the attention of the audience in a speech of about two hours lenga h, which was frequently interrupted by outbursts of * applause. We will not at tempt to produce any of Col, K{eithi's speech here, for we know that we should fall far short of doing him justice. We are confident that he made a good im pression on his colored hearers. The whites rmanimously commededl( and applauded this grand effort of Col. Keith, all concurmng that it was the best speech made in Pickens since the campaign opened. He was.followed by Capt. Hhollingsworth, of this place, in a aIuort, but spirited speech, In which ho ad vised all to work unceasingly for Hampton and reform Five negroes~ are under arrest in Edgefipid for the murder of Mr. Gil moredi 4 The papers of the North are team ing with deniuciations ot Gaunt's and -Chamberlain's coutrse.
