There was a goodly attendance of citizens on last Monday, saleday. No property dis posed of by the Sheriff, and but few, if any, horse swaps. Let every Democrat In Pickens County do his whole duty from now until the sun sets on the 7th day of November. General McGowan said in his speech at this place they had heard there was "fire in the mountains," and had come to see about it. He was right- There is more Dem ocratic fire in the mountains now than was ever known before. We enter Pickens County for a larger De snocratic majority, according to voting popu lation, on the 7th of November, than any oth er County in the State. Is there a man in Pickens County, who can lay his hand upon his heart and conscientiou. ly say that he believes it would be to the in terest of the Stare to elect Chamberlain in stead of Hampton. FaosT--There was a killing frost in this section on last Sunday night. Conside a ble ice formed during the night We fear tbot thousands of bushels of corn, planted after the spring freshet, has been destroyed. On Monday last we had the pleasure of meeting many or the .ost mubst-intial citizens frots every section of the County, from whom we !earned that the white vote of the County is solid for llampton and Reform, and tht the colored voters are getting their eyes open at last, many of whiom will vo e the Demo cratic ticket. The political horizon brighatens avery day. Last week, during a trial before a Trial Justice ait this place, between a Democratic negro and two white Detmocrats, about somte cot ton, in which none but t he parties thbem selves were ir terested. there was aboutt a dtozena Radical negroes lounagitng around wait-. ing~ ahe termauttion of thle t riail. Th'Ie t rial did not go exacetly to suit the darkey, and as soon as it was over, the Rtadical negroes im-8 aediately surrounded him anid commenced tann ' Miti.~m with: "We toie you dey took froma all de timte, an dey no fren to you, an you fool you wote wid umn," etc. This was the Gitt set of negrees, and old Tom makes his living off the Democrats by making and selling~ bhzme collars to them. ACc1DENT-We regret to state that Miss Mamie Carlisle, daugter of Prof. Carlisle aged 13 years, met wtth the misfortune on Thursday last of having both hones of the right forearm broken, just above the wrist. She had spent a night ini the country withi her school mate, Miss Bettie Griffin, atnd as they were returning next morning on horse back, the horse beca ne frightened at hogs running out of a fenase corner on the side of she road, and threw them off, resulting in the above painful accident. Dr. Earle set the broken limb, and we are glad to learn that her condition is very favorable. S*-THK P'nooP or THE PUuDDNG,"' ETc.-In this age of humabuggery it is easy to make bold assertions, but to furnish indisputable evidence of the truth of them is not always easy. We boldly assert that Dr. Tutt's Hair Dye is superior to all others and to prove it we give testianony of a celebrated Hair Dresser, who has used the various compounds reccom-~ y :nended for coloring the hair for twenty five years.
