-.-Donnie Hicks died at his home
In the West End of Walhalla late
Tuesday afternoon. Tho announce
ment came as a great surprise to
many friends of tho family and the
deceased, who had not known of his
illness. Mr. Hicks had boon suffer
ing from erysipelas for some time,
and it ls supposed that the disease
boca mo internal as well as evidenced
outwardly, and that this fact, brought
his death so unexpectedly. Mr. Hicks
was about 0(1 years of ago and leaves
his wife and several children to
mourn hts death. Mr. Hicks was a
good citizen and kind neighbor, and
will bo sorely missed in this commu
nity. His wife is a daughter of the
late Dr. .lohn R. Morton. Funeral
services will bo held this afternoon,
the Interment to fake place at Rocky
Knoll cemetery. The sympathy of
many is extended to the bereaved
ones.

M. Kelley, of tho Conoross section,
which occurred at the Kelley home
last Sunday morning. Mrs. Kelley
was In her C Ith year, having beon
born In November, 1864. She was
a devoted wife and mother and a
good woman. She will ho greatly
missed from her community and by a
wide circle of friends. Before mar
riage she was a Miss Crenshaw, ho
ing a daughter of the late Henry D.
and Sallie Crenshaw. Mrs. Kelley ls
survived by hot husband and sevetal
children. Sho ls also survived by
two brothers and one sister, Newton
Crenshaw, of Walhalla, and Thomas

minster to the country outlying from

ed Monday from a trip to Anderson,
where they attended Sunday last the
marriage of their niece, Miss Lena
B. Brown, and Waker W. Keaton,
both of Anderson county. Tho bride
is a niece of J. ?. Knox and is woll
known by quite a number of Oconee
people. She is a daughter of Evans
Brown. The Courier joins with oth
ers in extending all good wishes to

was in Walhalla for a short while
last week visiting bis mother, Mrs.
G. A. Harrison, and among relatives
and friends. Mr. Harrison is an en
listed man in the Navy Department,
being employed lu the electrical di
vision, as chief machinist's mate,
and is now on duty at Charleston.
He has a - petty officer's rank. His
many friends here were glad to meet
him again.
-After February 15th the barber
shops of Walhalla will charge the
