North Greenville and Six-Mile Academies, three Baptist mountain schools in this state. A prize of ten dollars was offered for tho best declaimer and tho best ora tion. Much Interes! was manifested in the contest and a good audience was present, The prize for tho best oration was awarded to tho North Greenville school and that tor the best declamation was awarded to the Long Creek school. These mountain schools aro receiving much attention by tho Baptist people, and aro ac complishing untold good, which will certainly manifest Iteslf in tho future. He returned the past week from Detroit, where he has been at work in Ford's machine shops. The following boys 'eft last Friday for Anderson, where they enlisted, going on to Camp Styx Sunday: Bert Tribble, Thornley Cary. Oscar Doyle and Charlie Byrd. Monday morning the following Seneca boys loft, for Greenville to enlist: Clarence Brad berry, Arthur Snipes. Fd. Farmer, Al bert Buchanan, Dall Grant, Elvin Moore. Sam Smithson and Ted Daly. Oliver Doyle and Charles Law rence lolt on Saturday last for Ken tucky, whore they will work with the civil engineer corps which has been removed from Seneca.
