R. Moss last Monday nabbed one Luther Hamey on thc streets of Walhalla. Ramey was carrying a very innocent looking grip, but the "sparrow's" had been chirping up in the trees and put Deputy Sheriff Moss wise. He accosted the traveler, who opened up the grip and displayed six pint bot tles and a quart bottle of liquor. Mr. Moss followed Biblical instruc tions, taking in the traveler, and has since been giving bini hoi h food and drink at the county hotel. Brunswick, Ga., Keb. 25.-Edw Gould, .Ir., was instantly killed whl hunting coons with a lone com pa lon on Latham's Hammock, ne lekyl Island, early to-day. Edwin Gould, who was spendii this winter on .lekyl Island, was St. Augustine when the accident his son occurred. Young (Jonld was 211 years of nf OCONEE HOY DUOS IN TEXAS, Super Cantrell, a Son of Mr. and .Mrs. Moses li. Cantrell, of Wa lim lia. Moses L. Cantrell received last Sat urday a telegram announcing the death of his son, Super Cantrell, at Kl Paso, Texas, on Friday, the 2!ld. Young Cantrell was a member of the Georgia National Guard, Company M, Fifth Regiment, having enlisted in Atlanta when the troops were be ing organized for service on the Mex ican border. Ile was a native ol' this section, having boon born near Wal halla. Ile was a son ol' Mr. and Mrs. Moses h. Cantrell, and was 18 years of age on the 25th of July last. No information was contained in tho telegram announcing his death as to the cause ol' death. He died suddenly in the hospital, and it is supposed that bis tronido was menin gitis. During last week and the week previous young Cantrell had written to members ol' his family here, and no mention was made in his letters' of any illness. The telegram an nouncing his death stated that Tull particulars would bo forwarded to the parents by mail. The body left Kl Faso at 10 o'clock Sunday night and is expected to reach Walhalla Thursday afternoon. Arrangements are being made for in terment of the body at Bethel Pres byterian cemetery, the funeral ser vice to be conducted at Bethel church next Friday morning at ll o'clock. Super Cantrell was an industrious, hard-working young man and bore a splendid reputation where he was known. He bad been engaged In work In Georgia for about two or three months when the call came for volunteers for the Georgia National Guard, and ho was one of the early volunteers for Company M. Ile was mustered into the service at Macon, going to the border with his com mand in October last. He was a member of the same company in which Thos. J. Davis, also of this section, a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Davis, who live near West Union, en listed, and in which he is now serv ing in the capacity of sergeant. There are many friends of the de ceased young man who will learn of his death with- deep regret.
