Mrs. Alex ander was on her way back to Boston from her old home in Wilmington, N. C.. where she bad been spending the winter while her husband, now a chaplain in the navy, has been with his ship on a cruise in South Ameri can waters. Mrs. .lessie Wiggins, at Carnet, Hampton county, on Mon day. Mrs. sharp, before marriage, was a Miss .McDavid, daughter of the late Allen McDavid, ol' Greenville county. She was in the 82(1 year of her age. The deceased was the widow ol' the late Rev. Van A. Sharp, who passed away a number of years ago while serving as a presiding elder in the North Carolina M. 10. Conference. Kev. Mr. Sharp was raised in Oconee county and was a brother of the late Capt. K. K. Shani and Mrs. J. W. Hol lemnn. The remains of Mrs. Sharp were interred at Carnet yesterday. Rev. Sharp was buried in North Caro lina. --.Mrs. Catherine Casey died at tho homo of Mr. and Mrs. M. lt. Hub bard, ol' Hie Picket Post community, last Sunday, April Otb, after a linger ing illness of some three years. About (ho weeks ago Mrs. Casey suffered a stroke of paralysis, which was the im mediate cause of her death. Mrs. Casey was a good woman, a devout Christian and a consistent member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church. The deceased leaves only ono child, Mrs. John Duckett. There are seve ral grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her death. Funeral services wen- conducted Monday, the 10th, by Rev. J. B. As an after result of the .attack ol pneumonia the little fellow dovetailed pleurisy. An incision was made thc latter part of last week, thus relieving the sufferer. We gladly welcome her' as a resident of the town. We regret to lose Mr. and Mrs. Chambers as resi dents of the town, but wish them suc cess in their new home. -Rev. It. M. Marshall, of Clemson, conducted services in St. John's Epis copal church, Walhalla, last Sunday, this being the llrst service here for some time. Rev. Mr. Marshall spent five weeks in Charleston recently un der the care of a specialist, and re turned home the early part of last week. By reason of an abscess In his ear the ear drum was' perforated, threatening destruction to lils hear ing. Ills many friends there and else where will be delighted to know that the treatment has proven successful, and that his hearing, if impaired at all, will be but slightly so. BROTHERS KILL BROTHERS. Two Peculiar Cases Occur on Same Day in Georgia, Chattanooga, Tenn., April 9. Shan J. Nelson, a merchant of Shaw, Ca., near here, was killed this af ternoon by his brother, Mack Nelson. While the merchant was whipping his 4-year-old son with a hickory switch Mack Nelson is said to have protested and provoked a quarrel. The father tobi bis brother to "go home." and he went home and re turned, witnesses say, armed with two shotguns. Shan J. Nelson fell dead lu front of his store, his body horribly mutil ated by the discharge of both guns. His assailant, it was said, approach ed and wi lihou I warning put a gun to each shoulder and tired. Mack Nelson was arrested and committed to the Walker county, Georgia, jail at Lafayette. Near Chipley Also. LaGrange, (la.. April ii.-John Strickland shot, and instantly killed lils brother. I,. Strickland, last night in a quarrel in front of the latter's home, lour miles fi\>m Chipley, Ga. The t'WO brothers, prosperous fu mers of Harris and Troup counties, after spending the day in Columbus, returned to I,. Strickland's home, both under tho Influence of liquor, it is alleged. The q narro I began, it is alleged, when John Strickland refused an in vitation to spend the night with his brother. This refusal so angered L.
