A checking up of stock show ed that four pairs of pants, four vests and two coals had boon stolen. The pressing club is operated by W. H. Jones and A. C. This improved service will bo of decided advantage not only to Walhalla and West Union and to the rural patrons, but also to the Tamas see. Salem and 'Highlands star routes. Tho Post Office Department does not make it. a practice to utilize automobiles for the transportation of mails over star routes, and so far as is known the 'Highlands route is the only other one In the South util izing auto service. He bas a 'host of friends hero In Oconee who will bo pleased to learn of bis success in business circles in At lanta. -Quite a serious automobile acci dent occurred in Oconee last Sunday when a car driven by a Mr. Hendrix, of Central, Pick ens county, turned turtle in tho public road near Cheo heo church, about 13 miles from Walhalla. As the party was moving along at a ??iT rate of speed tho front radius rod broke no both sides, causing the car to wheel suddenly around and turn completely over, throwing Mrs. Hendrix clear of the car and breaking 1IOT right arm. Mr. Hendrix wno pinned under tho car and sustained three broken ribs. Thero was a third occupant of tho car, a brother-in-law of Mr. Hen drix, whose name ls not known here. Dr. J. W. There are many in Oconee who will be interested in tho information that E. C. Ellison, formerly of Oco nee, is announced in the race as a candidate for Auditor of Walker county, Alabama. The Carbon FUR Journal and tho Mountain Scout (Jasper) carry very flattering no tices concerning Mr. Ellison. We clip the following brief extract from tho Journal of February 24th: "The name of Mr. Ellison is quite familiar to many people of Walker county, as ho ho? been a substantial and highly respected citizen of Townley for the past four years. During that time he has been man ager of the commisssary for the Bir mingham Fuel Company. He bears a most excellent reputation, both for his personal character and his busi ness ability. 'He is a young man, and has many strong friends over the county. During 'his residence in Townley ho has been active In the town's affairs commercially, socially, religiously and politically. He will undoubtedly get a strong following at the polls in May." Mr. Ellison ls a son of Capt. A. H. Ellison, one of Oconee's progressive farmers, who lives between Wal halla and Seneca, and who ls best known probably for his staunch work .cs president of the Oconee County Farmers' Union. Young Mr. Ellison has a host of friends here in his old 'home county who viii join most heartily with The Cuorler in wishing bim success In bis politi cal aspirations in bis adopted State of Alabama. He is a young man of splendid character and marked busi ness ability.
