Moss & Littleton, Wal halla, S. C.-Adv. Ther<> are many in Oconee who will learn with deep regret of the death of Dee Kerr, which occurred at 5.30 o'clock this morning at his la ther's home several miles from Wal halla, at the foot of the mountains. Mr. Kerr had suffered an attack of pneumonia only a short time since, and few knew Of his illness. He was a young man of about :!."> years .'"ul was unmarried. He was at one time Coroner of Ocor.ee, having completed bis term of office with the term end ing with the last election for that of fice, in which he was not a candidate, having voluntarily retired from the oflice, not . king re-election. The deceased wa a member Of Zion Meth odist church, id we understand the interment will take place at Neville burying ground some time Thursday, but have not learned the hour. Mr. Kerr was a cripple, having in early Uh suffered from a severe illness which left his body badly deformed, necessitating the use of clinches foi the h?lame of his life. Ill spite of this handicap, however, he was ener getic and a constant worker at such employment as he was able to engage it). He had many friends here and elsewhere, with whom The Courier joins in extending to the bereaved .?ii"s sincere sympathy in their sor row. -This section was v ?sited last night ami . arly this morning by one Of Hu mo>t severe rain and wind storms thal has conn1 this way in many a day. There was no damage Of conseil a. nee done, but a number of trees woie blown down, some . mall house unroofed and blown over, the Lutheran church wire-iron feme on Main street laid flat, the ivar church doors blow II open, and numerous other Instances of such minor damage are reported. 'The water tank at the residence of Mr and Mrs. ll C. Busch, 011 Main street, came down with a crash, but aside from the tank and tower damage nothing suffered from the fall of the tower and tank. The tower of the union church In thc Monaghan mill village was blown down and the church removed from its foundations about throe feet. The tower, or steeple. Is a complete wreck. The power bouse of the Walhalla Dight and Power Company was again flooded, but damage was avoided by the prompt throwing O|H?II of tho, flood gates, thus permitting the dam to empty and the water to take its natural course, relieving the strain on the plant. It is pretty certain that nothing was damaged to such extent of J as to necessitate closing down, even ! for to-nlght. The wind is still blow for Next Monday! .
