There will doubtless be many re
ports coining in from all sections of
the county along creeks and moun

crops by the recent high waters. In
this Immediate vicinity Cane Creek
?ind tributaries have been quite tur

?ilong the course, though il is always
impossible to make anything like ac
curate estimates as to the amount of
damage done until some lime after
ibo water has receded. The Vernor
bridge, on the road leading across
Catie Creek, just out ol' town, on
Church street, has been washed
away, hiing taken as a whole down

along that section give appearance
of being in bad shape. The creek
spread in that terirtory from hill to
hill on opposite sides ol" Hie stream,
giving the appearance of a good-sized
river. Below Wes! I nion, on Cane
Creek, the Walhalla Light and Power
Company's dam was reported yester
day completely out of sight, tho wa
ter being higher than the dani. No
tice was given to patrons of the light
