( Anderson Intelligencer. ) Anderson county is to have tho largest hog ranch In the Southeast ern Slates, and plans already made warrant the conclusion that the farm will be operated along methods here tofore unknown to this section of country, This farm is now being put in shape by B. M. Aull, who lives about eleven miles north of Ander son, in the Autun neighborhood. Mr. Aull has already fenced and cross-fenced his ranch, and la now at work putting in various swine houses and other swine quarters, all of which will he completed within a short time. Ho will start off imme diately with about 500 hogs, a'l of. imported grades, which will be bred with well known breeds. Manila, Oct. 6.-Francis Burton Harrison, of New York, the newly appointed Governor General of tho Philippines, arrived here to-day ou board tho steamship Manchuria. He was greeted on Iiis arrival by a crowd of several thousand people, many of whom had como from the provinces. Traffic in tho streets of the city was brought to a standstill by the crowds. Several of tho welcoming delegations were accompanied by bands. Tho Manchuria was met down the harbor by a flotilla of steam launches, ono of which took out Newton W. Gilbert, of Fort Wayne, Ind., the Vice Gover nor. Governor General Harrison's address embodied instructions re ceived from '"resident Wilson through Secretary Garrison, stating broadly the administration's policy toward the Philippines.
