Mr. Harrison has been for sometime secretary of the Walhalla plant of the Monaghan Cotton Mills, but has resigned this position to accept a posilion as assistant to the division passenger agent of tho Southern Railway, whose headquarters are in Augusta. His brother, Frank E. Harrison, Jr., stands high in the estimation of railway officials. - Miss Gertrude Smith entertained most charmingly the members of the Emery Circle on Tuesday of last week. After all the guests had ar rived and a half hour had been spent in dainty embroidery, Miss Smith in vited the ladies to join in an old fashioned spelling bee, which caused much merriment and proved how easy lt ls to forget. Anderson, Oct. 7.-Miss Lulu Arm strong, of Honea Path, has instituted suit against Anderson county for damages in the amount of $5,000, which she claims to have suffered when Injured when an automobile in which she was riding collided with a rope stretched across a public road several months ago to warn drivers ! of a washout at Four-Mile branch. Miss Armstrong occupied a seat in Dr. Kirkpatrick's automobile and thc driver of the machine did not see the rope. The rone snatched off the windshield, scattering glass over the I occupants. The rope then struck several of tho occupants on their throats and snatched them from their seats. Miss Armstrong suffered one ear to be severely cut and also lost several teeth.
