. SATISFIED MEXICAN WAU OVER. Withdrawing Troops from lintier as Indication of Taft's Views. Washington, June 8.-As ovtdonce of President Taft's bollof that peace has been practically restored in Mex ico, with a stable government, capa ble of coping with tho situatl .i, the withdrawal by dogrcos of tho armed forees of tho United States from the borders of Mexico was bogun to-day. The first order refers to the 2,000 marinos at Guantanamo, Cuba, who will return to their home stations and ships. This will bo followed very shortly by the northward move ment ol the soldiers comprising the provisional brigades at Galveston, Texas, and San Diego, Cai. Even the manoouver division at San Aatonlo, In the light of favora ble developments In tho rocently war torn republic, will be spilt Into seve ral units and distributed through Texas. As a matter of precaution, however, the division will bo ar ranged so that lt can quickly assem ble to moot any emergency. The war ships which have been at Guantanamo and San Diego since last March will not bo withdrawn at this time, although even that ques tion ls under consideration. The administration has kept In close touch with tho situation in Mexico. Tho gradual withdrawal of the fighting forces whose southward movement throe mouths ago startled the nation, means, lt ls generally ac cepted boro, that official Washington takes an optimistic view of tho situa tion. .-?-i-.? . ?. DECLARES MARRIAGES VOID. Thousands of Couples Affected by Deelsion of Oblongo Judge. Chicago, lil., June 8.-Municipal Judge Stewart held yostorday that thousands of weddings of the Imme diate past were Illegal and void, be cause they had been performed by a justice of the peace from outside tho city limits In an ofTico ho occupied In the county building in Chicago. This justice of the peace was recently ousted from the county buldlng. The judge volunteered an opinion from the bench that tho justice of the peace had no legal right to marry any in Chicago, being a justice from outside of Chicago and by law his office wag abolished lu tho city. The same time Philip Fishman was telling Judgo Cooper how he was married without knowing it. He wanted the marriage dissolved. UNION BUREAU, fy fyfyfyfy fyfyfyfyfyfy fyfyfyfyfyfy fyfyfy Merging With Furniers' Union. There ls no doubt now about tho Sea Island Cotton Growers' Associa tion joining the Farmers' Union in a body. This ls merging a good body of the host organized cotton growors In tho South into the Farmers' Un ion. Tho Farmers' Union, having ab sorbed or survlvod tho Soutborn Cot ton Association, the Sea Island Cot ton Growers' Association, and about all the farm demonstration workers, from that grand and good man, Dr. Knapp, down tho whole lino of dem onstration workers to the State com mission of agricultural workers, this begins to look Uko merging the whole farm family Into tho union In earnest. When we got all tho boys' corn clubs, the boys' hog and hominy olubs, tho girls' frying chicken clubs, and the Sunshine club, we will thon have about all tho family except the dog; and since our Farmers' Union people have not yet acquired a taste for "puppy sausages" we don't need either the two-logged or four-legged canine In our buslnosB. But our Farmers' Union peoplo do love tho home-grown, four-legged bog about as well as they detest Imported cor poration bogs. Co-operate with farm demonstra tion workers, and go out to meet the agricultural train when It comes your way. This ,train for demonstration ls part of the Farmers' Union work. Tills farmers* train Is not loaded with speculative theorists. There is a great deal to 'bo learned by all who visit this train and exhamine the ex hibits and hear the lectures. Tho day is fast passing for the farmers to ro celve everything with distrust unless lt comes from those who hold the handles of the plow. Cheap, witty, criticism teaches no man anything about farming, nor pays any bills or taxes. A Tiff With X. Y. Cotton Exchange. The most Interesting and amusing debate to Farmers' Union people of late was the sharp discussion of the report of the committee on New York cotton exchange methods at tho re cent meeting of the American Cot ton Manufacturers' Association when Lewis Parker and other cotton spin ners claimed that the New York cot ton exchange was run more in tito interest of gambling than as a me dium. In tho legitimate Interest of cotton trading. It carno out In the Kobato that the New York cotton ex change gambled by the use of wires and Mes, and backed up by a few hundred thousand bales of dog-tail cotton lu New York warehouses, could run cotton futures either up or down, taking profits from either side, irrespective of prices for spot cotton, and cotton mill men aro now about of the same opinion about the New York cotton exchange question as the Farmers' Union has been for thc last five years, at which time cotton growers, through a kind of detective committee, made tholr report to the union, which sounded very much Uko tho cotton mill men's report on tho gambling features of this New York cotton exchange. It ls beyond doubt the biggest humbug that has any thing to do with tho cotton market. Since our mill men have made this new (?) discovery for their own ben efit, (which cotton growers found out over five years ago,) Farmers' Union men should he moro patient with tho cotton mills, as they are gradually coining toward the cotton growers' for their cotton; and the Southern mills, lt appears, may, after a time, And out that there ls no reason for going to New York to get cotton grown at tholr own door. The mills aro now about five years behind time In Unding out the amount of rotten cotton there ls in the New York cot ton exchange. Moro Money for Trinity. Durham, N.
