The United States Department of Agriculture has recently Issued two bulletins of universal interest to ru ral teachers. They have been pre pared by Dick J. Crosby and F. YV. Howe, specialists In agricultural ed ucation, and are entitled "School "Lc.-sons on l oni" and "School Exor cises In Plant Production." These bulletins are based on the assumption that tho child is primarily Interested lu the practical and experimental side of any Silence, and that any general Interest in agriculture will be the result of some special agricul tural experiment in Which he may he engaged. Three thousand boys in South Car olina Ibis year raised an acre of corn. Many of them will receive the diploma awarded hy the State Hoard of l'Mv.. ; lion for producing seventy live bushels per acre. We confidently expect live thousand hoys to take part In tho corn contest next year. The air ls full ot corn talk. The teacher pf South Carolina should bave a part in extending this mo ve inent and should use this acute spe cial Interest as a means of teaching general agriculture. Harris >vas summoned by telegram on last Thursday to El berton, Ga., to attond tho funeral of Ezeklol P. Harris, who died of heart failure on the streets of Elberton. Mr. Harris was well known through out this section of Oconeo. whore he once resided. His friends were many, all of whom deeply sympathize with his bereaved widow and other relatives In this sad hour. One year ago to-day Mr. Harris, with his wife, visited hore, and Ids presence was al ways a loving benediction. Gentle, kind and unselfishly considerate of others, ho was beloved by all. ills body was laid to rest In the new Presbyterian cemetery al Elberton on Friday morning, services being con ducted by Dr. Stacey, assisted by the ministers of the various churches In the city. ile was known as "Uncle Zeke" by tho people of elberton, and many were the beautiful tributes paid him from the pulpit and preoS. The floral offerings were beyond de scription, testifying tho respect and loving remembrances of his friends and colativos. His was a beautiful, consecrated Christian life-one wor thy of emulation-and we can safely say, "Peace to his ashes. Ho rests I from his labors and his works do fol low him." To the bereaved ones we offer our sympathy In this sad be reavement, and may God's grace sus tain and comfort them.
