J. Q. Law re ceived a telegram from Anderson an nouncing tho death of Mr. Buchanan, an aged member of Hr. Law's congre gation at Mount Zion, in Anderson county, Mr. Buchanan was past 80 years of age and a staunch member of the church. Brown, Walhalla, for Mme, cement and roofing-best grades. tf -At the Coroner's Inquest last night nothing definite was accom plished in the inquiry Into the death of Robert C. Emerson. One Juror was absent and a number of wit nesses summoned did not appear. All jurors last night were required to enter into bond for their appearance at the Court House next Tuesday evening, as were also all the wit nesses who appeared last night, and tlie absent ones will be required, as soon as located, to enter recogni zances for their appearance at the inquest next Tuesday. From numer ous circumstances and indications it ls thought decidedly doubtful that Mi". Emerson fell from ,the Hine Ridge trestle and was killed, and it is thought much more probable that be was killed by sollie party or par ties and his body placed there. Mr. Emerson is said to have left home witli something like $60 in Iiis pockets and when lils body was found there was only about He had, however, paid lils taxes (about $4.8?), and that is tlie only evidence of any money spent by him, except that he was drinking, and probably left some of Iiis change with the blind tiger, lie left home with the inten tion of paying his taxes and two bills, and we are informed that nei ther of the bills was paid. -Dr. J. The officiai notice of this decision by the distilling com pany was received by the Attorney General yesterday, and as the appeal bas been abandoned the original de cision of tlie commission will stand.
