Spart anburg, Oct. l.-Mrs. Martha Foster, aged about 40 years wife of Doe Foster, employed In the spinning room at Beaumont Cotton Mille was found dead in a clump of woods near the mill village yesterday afternoon by a colored man who, in wv.Iklng through the woods, was attracted by a white straw hat on the ground. Looking about him he saw a mound of pine needles and leaves, from un der which protruded the feet and hands of a woman. He reported his find to the olllclals of the mill, and they in turu reported the case to the sheriff. I'pon uncovering the body it was found that the woman had been mur dered by being struck in the head with a rock or some blunt instru ment. The top of her head was crushed in and her face was beaten to a pulp. It presented a gruesome sight. Doc Foster, aged f?0 years, the hus band of the woman, Is being held in the county jail upon the recommen dation of the coroner's jury for fur ther investigation. His wife lind been in the hospital for the Insane at Columbia, and was discharged about two weeks ago. She spent Monday night at the home of Mrs. Mary Leister, at Beaumont, and Tuesday she and her husband were seen to go off together, and lt ls said they were seen to enter the woods where the dead body of the woman was found. Foster told a reporter that he talk, ed with his wife late Tuesday after noon, she telling him she was going to Drayton, and expected to go from there to Wellford OD Sunday. Mrs. Leister says after Foster and lils wife left her home Tuesday he re turned latei and said lils wife had gone to Hi?ndale. Others state that Foster told them he saw his wife in a hack driven by a negro and was accompanied by a white man. He ls said to have remarked that she wav ed a bunch of violets at him. Vio lets are not in bloom nt this time and the coroner's jury did not know what to make of the statement. Fos ter has been twice married. Kluger, the jeweler, 1060 Virginia avenue, Indianapolis, Ind., writes: "I was so weak from kidney trouble that I could hardly walk a hundred feet. Four bottles of Fo ley's Kidney Remedy cleared my complexion, cured my backache and the irregularities disappeared, and I can now attend to business every day, and recommend Foley's Kidney Remedy to all sufferers, as lt cured me after the doctors and other rem edies had foiled."
