Lewis Harrison, of Clem son, accompanied the orchestra here and spent several days at the home of his parents, on Fa ulty Hill. -The young ladies of Walhalla always know how to do just the proper thing at the right time, and the informal complimentary dance to the young men at Pitchford'*, Hall Tuesday evening was no exception to the rule. As a social event, lt was a success from every standpoint. Everything was planned and carried out In thal fascinating manner which women alone can use. Tho little booth in one corner, where fruit pundi was served, was presided over in such a charming way that while drinking one could easily imagine that be was drinking nectar from the fountain of the gods. Besides those from home, there were a num ber of visitors from Seneca, Rich land, Pendleton and Anderson. We are authorized by thc young men to tender the young ladies a unanimous vote of thanks. -Speaking of his recent visit to Easley as a member of the South Carolina Presbytery, which convened there last week, Col. It. A. Thomp son, recalled several incidents of Hie long ago. "Tho historical associa tion of lOasley," lie said, "is interest ing. Near by is I'iekensvillo, one of the oldest towns In the up-country. The town was named in honor of Gen. Andrew Plckens, of Revolution ary fame. This large territory was organized by the Legislature and known as Washington county. The court house and jail were erected at I'iekensvillo. In the course of time these buildings were burned. As population increased there was a loud clamor for the division of Wash. Ington county Into two districts.
