Neighbors, cash ier of the Southern raliway at North Birmingham, was found dead in the woods ftiere by two small boys yes terday, a bullet hole being In his head. The young man had been missing since Saturdny. He was on a collecting tour and had gotten In a number of checks when he disap peared. A plstoi was found near the body, and there ls supposition of suicide, though some believe that murder was committed. The young man was not short in any accounts, and wns In a jovial spirit when last seen. His home was at Knoxville, Tenn., and the body will be sent there, most likely, though in a very bad r.tate of decomposition. The coroner ls in vestigating. C.. where lils family have been for some weeks. The Hrst let ter that any of his friends has re ceived from Governor Heyward ellice his illness was received Wednesday, and he states that while he ls able to leave the hospital in Philadelphia, he is yet far from well, and it will be the middle of September before he will return to Columbia and resume his business. The physicians state, however, that with another month or six weeks of complete rest, Governor Heyward will probably be in better health than for the last two years. New Clyde Liner Launched. Philadelphia. July 29.- The Clyde line steamship Mohawk, built for ser vice betweon New York, Charleston and Jacksonville, was launched yes terday from the yard of tho Cramp Shipbuilding Company. Mrs. J. A. Raymond, wife of the treasurer and assistant general manager of the steamship company, christened the new vessel. The Mohawk ls 400 feet long and ls expected to develop an average speed of 14 knots an hour. There are accommodations for 275 cabin and 60 steerage passengers on the steamer. ?Q? Texan Governor was a Native of S par tan burg, s. C. Weatherford, Texas, July 30. Wormer Governor S. W. T. Lanham, of this State, died at his home here last night after an illness of several weeks, aged 0 2 years. Governor Lan. ham was a native of Spartanburg, S. C., and served during the civil war as a member of the Third South Carolina regiment. He removed to Texas in 1866, and was elected a member of Congress in 1883, serv ing until 1893. Two years later he was re-elected and served ngain for eight years. As Governor, he served two terms, his first term beginning in 1903.
