Hutchison left last Sunday morning for Columbia, whew sdie will Bpend several days visiting her daughter, Mrs. Geo. W. Maxwell, and family. -Miss Emma Stribllng, who was quite 111 the early part of last week, so far recovered as to be able to re turn Saturday to ber home at Seneca. Her many friends hope for her early complete recovery. -The teachers' examinatlor 'or certificates, held at the Court House last Friday, was well attended. About twenty-five stood examina tions and all sections of the county were well represented. -Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Hutchison on Monday moved to Anderson, where they expect to make their home in the future. This removal was neces sitated by Mr. Hutchison being put back to his old run as engineer on the Blue Ridge freight. -Any one who has information as to the whereabouts of Frank Hooper or Mrs. Mary London will confer a favor by notifying, J. M. London, Glenville, N. C. Last heard of in neighborhood of Clayton, Ga., on way to Westminster. -John Mattlson, colored, and Burt Allen, white, were lodged In jail last Wednesday on the charge of selling liquor. J. N. Rhodes was hound over on the same day on the charge of violating the dispensary law. All three cases were sent up by Magistrate B. F. Sloan, of Seneca. -Citizens should take due notice of payment of municipal taxes, which can he paid up to the close of busi ness Monday, .lune 1st, 1!M)S. Hoofer, of Columbia, ls In Walhalla for a few days. He left here two weeks ago on receipt of a telegram announcing tho serious ill ness of his little six-months-old. child, who died shortly after his ar rival In Columbia. Mr. Hoofer Is stopping at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Oehmig. -J. N. Rutherford, of Walhalla. Route No. 2, called on The Courier last Friday to pay his subscription for the forty-first time. During the past 4 0 years he has not been with out The Courier In his home. He is not only one of our best ftrends, but one of Oconee's best farmers as well, and we wish him yet many years more of peace and plenty. -We learn that Miss Minnie Fin kenstede formerly of Walhalla, but for several years a resident of At lanta, will soon be married to A. It is quite probable that the latter will enter business and lo cate permanently in Texas. Capt. and Mrs. Uencly are stopping tempo rarily at the Walhalla Hotel. -The Ueptasoph memorial ser vice at the Lutheran church last Sun day afternoon was well attended. Rev. J. C. Yongue, of the Methodist church, preached a special sermon to the Heptasophs, and his discourse was full of good thought, not only to lodge members, but for all. At the close of the services the members of Oconee Conclave left the church in a body to decorate the graves of de ceased members of the order, some of the graves being in the Lutheran, Westview and Baptist cemeteries. The floral tributes were benuMful and abundant.
