It waa construct ed of silk paper In many pretty colors and was about ten feet in length. It had been sent up from Westminster the night previous. George Reid visited relatives near Oakway recently. Burt Rothell and Miss Cora Long wore married December 25, Rev. P. T. Burton officiating. Sam Watkins and Miss Boll Cobb were married December 22, Rev. Z. Carswcll performing the ceremony. James H. H, Marett, Seq., at his resi dence, George McClain and Miss Hat tie Wilson, all of Oconee. ' Mrs. Maggie Fellers, of Newberry, is among relatives lu this community for a few days. Andrew Gllreath ls among rela tives and friends in Greenville for a few weeks. One of the most enjoyable events of tho paBt week was the B. Y. P. U. social, given at the hospitable, home of Dr. Burt Mitchell on the evening of December 25th. About fifty guests were present. Fifteen ques tions were written on paper, the last syllable of each answer being "son." It appeared that all were Intensely interested and got correct answers to all the questions. Refreshments, consisting of fruits and nuts, were served In the dining room at 10.30. A Christmas tree was given by the residents of the West End at the chapel near the knitting mill at 4 O'clock on Wednesday afternoon. Prior to the distribution of the pres ents exercises were rendered by the Sabbath school, and candy and fruits were distributed among the scholars and the visitors. . y Mrs. W. L. Sam Finch accidentally shot him self one day last week with a 22 callbre rifle as he was fixing to shoot a hog. Dr. Burt Mitchell took the bullet out of his leg a few,, In ches above the knee. Mr. Finch has a very sore leg, but the wound is not dangerous. The holidays passed very quietly, the ehlef enjoyment being in family dining, one of the most enjoyable of which was given by Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Dendy and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Dondv. of Seneca, at the home of the former, on Friday;, the 27th. The spacious tower rooms Of this elegant residence, which in its construction is beautifully adapted to the accom modation of large gatherings, were used en suite. At 1.30 the guests were ushered into the dining roora, where half dozen tables, richly laden with eatable? which would tempt the most fastidious appetite, awaited them. Mrs. W. J. Lunney, in her usual dignity and grace, assisted the hostesses at serving. The day was an especially enjoyable one from the fact that so many of the family are seldom together at once. The entire scene was ono of* beauty. Dainty refreshments, con sisting of orange gellatlne in orange cups, were served with many deli cious cakes.
